Better than brass
Better than brass because it won’t tarnish. So it’s care free. It has an aluminum body with a beautiful polished gold coating. The threads are 1/4-27, which is standard for lamps. For my project, I needed 1/4-20 threads. So it was easy to retap the existing threads to 1/4-20. Happy!
