Helps back and hip pain
A couple months ago, I started taking gelatin daily for back and hip pain, and I’ve noticed enough improvement that I’ve decided to continue taking it. It's not a cure, but it helps me put in a full day’s work in front of the computer. I'm also getting a full night’s sleep instead of waking up in pain, despite being an incurable stomach sleeper.I started with what was available at the grocery (Knox). Since it worked for me, I decided to start taking gelatin as a part of my daily routine. That makes it more important to know what I’m ingesting. Zint claims to be made from pasture-fed cattle, so I do feel better about taking it every day.It dissolves completely in hot liquids using the method below, and it has very little taste or odor that I can discern. There’s the slightest tinge of something if you really *try* to taste it, but I find it very faint and quite tolerable. Here’s how I dissolve it: Put a teaspoon of the powder in a custard cup, small bowl or coffee cup. Add just enough room temperature water to stir easily. LET IT SIT (this is important) for a minute or two to form a thick slurry or gel, depending how much water you added. (It can do this while your coffee or tea is brewing.) Spoon the slurry or gel into your hot beverage (or pour the beverage on top of it) and STIR until it’s completely dissolved. It will melt gradually, like an ice cube, as you stir. I do add sweetener to my coffee and tea, so if there is any faint flavor, it's not noticeable. Sometimes I gel up a larger batch of it, store it in the fridge, and spoon out a chunk at a time for my hot beverages. Bonus: it cools the beverage to drinking temperature as it dissolves.I think there is a very slight change in the texture of hot drinks with added gelatin and I actually like it, especially in tea. It adds a bit of body that I find more enjoyable than plain tea--similar to what a little bit of cream does for coffee. I like tea more now than I did before I started adding the gelatin. If you suspect you have super sensitive taste buds, I suggest you do as I did and try a small package of the store-bought kind first before buying the Zint brand. The only thing I don’t like about the Zint gelatin is that it comes in one of those fiddly zip-close bags. If you don’t “zip” it just right, the bag doesn’t close fully. I wish they sold it in a jar or canister, but I guess I can keep my eye out for a suitable container and transfer the product to it. That’s a matter of personal preference, though—some people might prefer the bag.If you’re looking for something to dissolve in cold beverages, Zint also sells collagen hydrolysate, which should have the same benefits for your skin and joints as regular gelatin. Zint was out of stock when I ordered, so I got the Great Lakes brand. I’m taking two tablespoons of that daily now (the recommended serving size is larger), in addition to my one teaspoon a day of the Zint gelatin, for the convenience of being able to just stir and drink. Collagen hydrolysate is considerably more expensive, so if cost is a factor, stick with the plain gelatin.

We're all enjoying this gelatin, and the kitties may be using it soon too!
First off, I paid full price for my initial purchase of this product. I recently received an offer for a discount on my _next_ order of Zint gelatin as an incentive for posting my proverbial 'honest review'. Obviously, if my family or I didn't like this brand or it did not perform as expected, the offer would be of no benefit and any issues would be reflected in my review. Also, this is the first instance where I have been offered anything in exchange for a review (i.e., I don't make a career out of writing reviews). All that long-windedness said, the timing of the offer was perfect, as everyone in our household is using and enjoying the product and I was going to order more anyway. I have certainly noticed an improvement in the amount of joint pain I used to experience, and am thrilled not to be taking OTC pain relievers now except for something like an occasional headache!I've been making "healthy" gummy treats using the gelatin and organic fruit juices (some with the addition of local raw honey) and have had them turn out quite well. I haven't been using molds, but rather 5x7 inch glass Pyrex containers and there hasn't been any issue with the treats sticking. There are plenty of gummy recipes online that use unflavored gelatin powder, but it would benefit Zint to include at least a basic recipe (and better instructions in general) on their packaging. My husband is not a jello or gummy treat fan, but wanted the benefits that gelatin can provide. He simply sprinkles a teaspoon of powder in about a cup and a half of room temp water, then mixes it and drinks it. Currently, he's taking this amount in the AM and PM. As far as clumping, it does make a difference when you sprinkle the gelatin in the liquid as opposed to just plopping the powder in all at once. He says there is a little bit of a taste, but nothing unpleasant that would stop him from using this particular brand.Additionally, I've wanted to use this gelatin as a supplement for our cats. I have seen gelatin brands marketed specifically for pets, but see no reason to pay a premium just because it's a "pet product". I'll be consulting one of our holistic vets on the matter in terms of dosage, etc., during an upcoming appointment.Overall, we love the product, but recommend improving the instructional details on the package, and perhaps offering recipe suggestions.

May have helped my elbow
So this is one of the only animal products I use in my diet and I started with it because I heard gelatin and collagen can really help with joints. I hurt my elbow over a period of a few months practicing martial arts and digging post holes in rocky/clay soil. Ouch. After a couple weeks of using this, my elbow doesn't hurt anymore, but I cannot attribute this only to the gelatin. I have also been taking it very easily physically, taking high doses of turmeric and vitamin C from rose hip tea and using a copper fabric elbow sleeve. The vitamin C is very important for collagen formation in the body and I didn't realize this, but caffeine destroys vitamin C in your body. I genuinely feel that my coffee use is a large part of why my elbow gave out. Now I don't use caffeine anymore which was hard, but it is making a difference. This product only has a mild taste. If you put it in a complex smoothie it can be well disguised, but I don't mind the flavor. It will dissolve very well in hot liquids, but not cold. Often times I just add it to some miso soup. I made a sugar-free stevia jello once just for fun. It's easy and the instructions are on the back of the package but you don't need to go to that trouble to benefit from this product. I tried to make sugar-free marshmallows and failed miserably. I ended up with a block of what what like really concentrated jello. It felt like I was eating cartilage haha! I hope to wean myself off of this stuff and just rely on the vitamin C and clean diet for joint health but we will see. It's only been 2 or 3 weeks and I haven't yet noticed anything with my hair or skin as some people say. I wouldn't mind that but it's not why I'm taking it. If it can help the structure of my body, that's good enough for me.
