Efficient skimmer - very reliable
I've been using the skimmer for just shy of a couple years and so far everything has worked well. The skimmer housing is very robust so the tight fit on the collection cup doesn't bother me to get things cleaned out as I know I'm not going to break anything. The pump itself has also been robust and keeps running even if there is trash that builds up in the impeller. I've had a couple occasions where chaeto breaks off and ends up in there.I went back and fourth on the design internal vs. external though I'm glad I opted for the internal pump design. It does save room in the sump and over time there's just never enough room in there as you could always do something else, so may as well plan to save as much space as you can.This is running on a 210 with a relatively light fish load. Typically I can run the skimmer a week before I have to start thinking about dumping the collection cup. The overflow switch has saved me a number of times either because I didn't get to the dump fast enough or there was an ATO malfunction. Highly recommended you get a unit that shuts off with high water level.
