Glamour, Gidgets, and the Girl Next Door: Television's Iconic Women from the 50s, 60s, and 70s

A collection of 45 short profiles of popular young actresses of the 1950s through the 1970s, from Elinor Donahue and Gale Storm to Goldie Hawn and Mary Tyler Moore to Loni Anderson and Suzanne Summers. Interesting facts about them (like Hawn's start in ballet and go-go dancing), some of the profiles are better than others which is to be expected. Based on personal interviews and a variety of published resources. Author Pilato made good selections, but you'll disagree over some exclusions. For me it was Batgirl Yvonne Craig who only rated an honorable mention on the last couple of pages. Definitely worth it for Hollywood fans.

Thoroughly enjoyable reading & will happily recommend to others! (Noticed that “Part II: The Teen Angels: Kristy McNichol (Family): Iconic Facts” omitted Kristy’s younger brother, Tommy McNichol, from its listing but other than that, all good.)

Very interesting! Short descriptions of all the women and you can skip around - you don't have to read it in order. Perfect for someone my age who grew up in the 60s.

was kind of disappointed. Don't know what i was looking for but it really didn't have any information that I didn't already know! kind of boring, in fact.

Magical book ,so much fun and like all the Pilato books(Bewitched ,Elizabeth Montgomery etc) the author treads a wonderful line that encompasses respect for his subject with a fun sense of knowledge of who he is writing about,Sally Field ,Marlo Thomas ,these kind of wonderful actresses from yesteryear,and if your a fan of people like this and enjoy programmes like That Girl and The Flying Nun,you will love this book,its recommended to all fans of classic TV of yesteryear,as is anything written by the author ,all in all ,great pics and bios of these wonderful ladies.BUY!!
