Great Paddle Upgrade
I purchased the Selkirk Epic Vanguard Hybrid paddle as an upgrade to my beginner paddles. Though I don't have a pickleball numerical ranking, I would consider myself a well seasoned beginner/intermediate player. This paddle is considerably thicker than other paddles I have used which made it have a much softer feel when hitting the ball and less of a pop with softer swings. Though the paddle is thicker, it still remains to be very lightweight. The carbon fiber surface has a very gritty feel which gives a much better topspin and more control. The paddle doesn't have the power some of the thinner paddles I have used, but it is sufficient. The handle is fairly thick and has a good grip covering that does not slip.So far, this has been a good paddle overall and have no complaints. It has delivered on what it claimed to be.

I like it!
I’m new to pickleball so what the heck do I know, humm. Well I used to play tennis, racquet ball and ping pong so a lot of those skills should transfer over. I went online to try to learn what can I expect different paddles do and what to look for. Then I watched more videos on how to play, paddle reviews and signed up for beginner classes. Class has not started but I decided to shop pre Black Friday sales and found two paddles that looked like good values, one more o a power paddle and this one for control and spin. Paddles came in and I found some open court time so I headed to try them out. Just me so I was limited to practicing serves and shots against the wall. I quickly found I could get my serve in, then I was able to get them deep with either paddle (fyi I hit over 300 serves). So I tried to hit top and back spin and after a few minutes I could even spin the power paddle a bit, some of the time. With this paddle I could get the spin I wanted most of the time and the ball movement was definitely noticeable and probably effective. Hey, the fact that I was able to control and spin my serves in one day with only watching a few videos tells me that this is a good paddle for me and at the Black Friday deal a great value. Even at the regular price I think they are a good value. BTW I could not figure out what made it a factory second, the paddle looks, feels and sounds right. Yes, I would buy it again.Bottom line if you are new and want a paddle you can use now but can also grow into I think there a ton of value here. If you have some power already this will help with spin and control without breaking the bank. If you don’t have power already this paddle alone will probably not get it for you. Learn to use your legs and weight transfer to increase your power. You can then use the control and spin from this paddle combined with the power from better technique will to make yourself a better player

Inexpensive and great quality!
As an avid and high level pickleball player, I love this paddle. This item was even a lot cheaper than others like it which is great! This paddle has helped with my consistency and spin. It is perfect for beginners and advanced players.

Selkirk Paddle
It’s a nice paddle but not exactly what my husband was looking for.

Good paddle for anyone
This is my second Sellkirk paddle and probably my favorite so far. I bought this paddle to bring more power and control into my game, which it has gave me. This paddle has more pop, then my black and white S2 Vanguard Sellkirk. The paddle itself does not have a ton of power, but enough for most opponents. The face of this paddle is much more gritty than my S2 Vanguard, Which tends to give me more control with the ball. There is a big dead spot at the bottom of the paddle right above the handle that I wish they would turn into air dynamic throat. This could give it a bit more power and more visual appeal. I don’t hit that dead spot often, but when I do I usually lose the point due to the ball not going over the net. Overall, I am happy with the paddle and have enjoyed using it. Selkirk is a highly respected brand and I look forward to their future products. I’m a 4.0 player and feel like this paddle could improve anyone’s game, as it has mine.

Much better ball control! Made in USA
I couldn’t believe the difference in the way the ball comes off the paddle. This had a little bigger handle circumference and weighed a little more than the paddle I had borrowed, so I was hesitant when buying. It’s made an amazing difference in my game as I can control the ball much better. I have small, arthritic hands and not much power; the difference this made when connecting with the ball was amazing. I’m now putting in much less effort in serving, dinking, and volleying. It has made the game much more fun for me. Also, I had trouble getting the free paddle cover offered. When I messaged the seller, they responded on the first working day. I now have an amazing racket and a with a nice cover to protect it. I would say Selkirk is putting some great quality in the label “Made in USA”

Quality paddle
Looking to replace my 4 year old Selkirk Omni paddle I saw these listed for $99. I like the elongated paddles but unlike the Omni this has some serious grit on the surface and from the get go felt really good in my hand. It had more pop than my old one and I could not see anything about it that looked like it had a blemish. I’ve played for 12 years and had a half dozen paddles and this is the best paddle I’ve found.
