Good for the price.
I have used this as a travel reel quite a few times. The reel is not super smooth but works and has not malfunctioned. If careful when retracting, the rod should last quite well, too. These telescopic type rods often get bad reviews but just a little careful with them. For instance, collapse by turning each section at its base. Never try to collapse thee by pushing on the end of the rod. That is not the proper way to do it!

Love this! We have two and they fit in our saddle bags so we can fish along the trail when we're horseback riding!

Compact and Ready
Good for what it is...a compact fishing outfit that goes in a backpack neatly. Of course it is not going to have the handling of a high-grade fishing pole and reel.

Broke after first use
The reel is great, but the rod is a piece of junk. I knew it would probably not last long for the price, but the end of the rod broke after just one morning of use. Never even caught a fish. I’ll just put the reel on another rod and find another telescoping rod that’s made better.

Weak rod
The reel is good, but the rod is not good at all, when I tried to cast without lure at third cast,the rod just broke into two pieces, and I have to pay return shipping fee, so I decided to buy a new rod.
