Insider's Guide to Estes Park and Rocky Mountain National Park: Updated for 2024

We were overwhelmed with all the information online. This book helped us understand how all the time entry works and helped us avoid long lines and confusion. The food recommendations were awesome. Anyone visiting Estes for the first time should buy this book!

Greatest education was learning that you have to get "Timed Entry Permit" for every day you plan to go into the park. If you find that out the day you go in, you will be turned around. Get this book and ALSO plan your visit by getting Timed Entry Permits for every day you plan to visit the park. It cost a few bucks per day, but would be a painful surprise if you wait until you get to Estes Park.

Great book that’s an easy read. Traveling to Estes and RMNP in May. This book is filled with little gems. Happy I chose this book.

This is the kind of information you only get from locals. For me, the section on actually getting into RMNP is worth it. The park has gone to a reservation system. I have not been to the park for a few years because I didn't want to piece together the entry details. This has them all organized in one place.
