Keeps the garage cool, but takes a little while to take the heat out of the air since it's a large 3 car garage. Doesn't go super cool but takes the bite out of the heat. Would recommend this product.

Wish I had not given this "air conditioner" the time of day...
I gave this thing way more time that I should have, and honestly looking back I wish I had returned this Air Conditioner as soon as I received it.So it goes like this.... I buy this around 6 months ago, it arrived quickly, can't complain there. Immediately though I look at the user manual, and to be blunt it was terrible, I am not even sure it was made for the model I received. There was literally components in the box, and ports on the a/c itself that were not even mentioned as to what they were for or how to hook it up and even the items pictured in the manual itself seemed to be different from what i was given.Well that was a tad annoying of course, but not all that hard to figure out how to assemble everything anyway, just odd that the manual provides next to no assistance to users, but anyway I got it up and running and everything seemed okay......until the first time I had to drain the water from it. At which point one of the wheels just....fell off, which was neat of course. Against my better judgement I decided to just fix that issue myself and rigged up a new wheel.Fast forward a few months and the cold starts to hit, now of course I started to test the heat functions. Low and behold the heater is substandard and to make things even more pleasant when the heater runs the condensation pan seems to fill several times a day.......which is awesome when it decides to turn off in the middle of the night and I wake up to a frozen wonderland in the morning. (Admittedly I can't fault the machine entirely for this as I live in a humid area and I understand heat will make a ton more water, but at the same time I even attempted to use the drain hose that it came with (which normally would allow continuous drainage)....at least I assume it was a drain hose as the manual had ZERO mention of what the completely unmentioned hose on the middle of the back of the a/c was.....but even with that attached it seemed to make absolutely no difference.)Does it do as good a job at cooling as they claim it should? No. (As this seemed to compare to a 8k btu window unit I had, at best.)So in short, if you live somewhere that it never gets cold and has almost no humidity...yea this might be decent for the price. Other than that very specific situation, I can see no reason to ever recommend this product.

Heater is not working and loud. It's not what it says it is..

Fantastic Cooling Machine
I purchased this a/c to cool a 700 square foot insulated and drywalled attached 3 car garage. I wasn't trying to cool the garage to 76 degrees here in hot Phoenix, Az and just wanted to keep it out of the hundreds, especially when hot cars are parked inside. I am delighted to say that it has no trouble keeping the garage at 84 degrees, which is comfortable when the outside temp is 107. The compressor shuts off periodically which is a good indicator that this a/c can handle the load. It claims to evaporate the water produced by cooling and so far after a few days I have not had to empty any water. If fact when I remove the drain plug there has been no water. It arrived well packaged and the UPS driver set it upright by my garage door, which means I didn't have to wait for the oil in the compressor to settle before using the unit. I cut the straps and lifted the box off the base and then lifted the a/c out. The unit rolls very easily on its wheels. The exhaust hose can be tricky to install because you turn it counter clockwise to install it on the back of the a/c and the outside window exhaust adapter. Problem is when you turn one end to install on the back of the a/c and then turn the other end to install into the window exhaust adapter, one end comes undone. The solution is to install the hose on the back of the unit first, then spin on the window exhaust adapter, then attached the window exhaust adapter to the window mount. The window mount adjusts to about 48 inches but my window was 58 inches so I used a piece of wood instead. When all hooked up I fired it up and let the cooling begin. The exhaust hose gets pretty warm so I covered it with towels to block the heat from escaping into the room. This should probably be an insulated hose. The unit does make some noise from the fan but it is no louder than any other a/c unit. If you are right next to it trying to watch tv the noise might bother you. You should know that in cooling mode the fan does not shut off when the compressor shuts off. Fan runs constant. Thermostat is accurate. Remote control works ok, sometimes the unit doesn't get the signal though.I gave this unit 4 stars overall because of the operators manual, which is written in poor broken english. It is unclear in some areas as to the operational details. Not a deal breaker. On operation alone this baby gets 5 stars. In a smaller environment like this unit is rated for it will have no problem cooling into the 70's. I am working this unit pretty hard, we will see how it holds up. If necessary I will update this review.Update 9/18/16This unit is still cooling my garage well. There has never been any water to drain. I am very happy with this a/c but at 14000 btu it does use a good deal of electricity as evidenced by the jump in my electric bills. Now for the one star reviews. One complained that his unit would barely cool to 72 degrees. He doesn't need an a/c, he needs a refrigerator. How can you not be happy with 72 degrees? Another complained the unit did not cool much. When you are trying to cool a heated space and all its furnishings you have to give any a/c time to get the temp down. Like 24 hours, especially if you are dealing with a hot slab of concrete. If you want this unit to cool properly it must be able to pull in outside air to replace the hot air it is exhausting out the hose and window. If your room is sealed tight then this unit won't operate properly. When used properly this is a fine a/c.

Glorified Fan - Barely Cools - Might Work in 300 sq ft
Barely cools. Virtually worthless. Never got below 72°, on its best day, and it's been low- or mid-70's most of the week. Without the max cool setting on, it does absolutely nothing.Aesthetically pleasing, which would be worth a few stars, if it worked. *Might* work in a 300 square foot space, but definitely not 500. These portable air conditioning companies should be ashamed of themselves for such bold-face lying; this is the second one I've tried that's been basically useless. It's also VERY NOISY. I have to watch TV on my computer with headphones, because I wouldn't be able to hear the TV and can't even hear my computer from two inches away. That said, if you aren't trying to hear anything, maybe it's nice white noise to block out the neighbors.

I would not recommend a portable AC unit
This is NOT a 14000 BTU AC. My living (336 sq ft) room never got past 89 degrees blowing on the coldest setting for hours. I had to relocate it to a small bedroom. I would not recommend a portable AC unit.
