Great first impressions
Great first impressions, nice packaging, the whole thing feels really solid. The outer sleeve was too tight on mine, it took me a minute to find a way of gripping/pushing that would budge it without bending/tearing it. Once I had the Cardboard out of the sleeve, I unstuck the sleeve using a knife & put it back together slightly looser & it works fine now.The velcro on top is WAY too strong. If you just pull on the cardboard to undo it, you will immediately bend or even tear it. Be really careful undoing it.The protective tape/film to prevent stains from forehead grease is a nice touch, although the one on mine didn't go quite high enough - a piece of Sellotape above it sorted that.I tested it with both a Nexus 4 & a Nexus 5. The Nexus 4 is definitely too small, as you can see the vertical edges of the screen on the left & the right. The Nexus 5 was better as I couldn't see the edges, though I suspect that it is probably only just big enough. In terms of optical clarity/quality, this v2 seemed to be better than either of the v1 Cardboards I have. With both phones however, the cardboard just to the left & right of the button was visible in the top of my field of view; the button itself was not visible. The button worked flawlessly with both phones, however there is less tactile feedback from the button itself compared to the magnet of the v1. The button doesn't 'bottom out', you just have to press until you feel the phone vibrate, whereas with the magnet you can feel it bottom out when it reaches the bottom of the cut-out.I had no issues with the lack of divider, though I did notice that there was more ambient light leak compared to my v1 Cardboards. One thing I love though, which I had a feeling I would like even before I got it, is how the circular mask makes the phone more stable/secure. One complaint I have with the v1 is how if your phone is any narrower than the Cardboard, you have to mess about with the rubber band to prevent the phone from falling inwards. With the circular masks, that can't happen.Overall, I rate the v2 experience above the v1 experience for my Nexus 5, both in terms of optical clarity & ease of use thanks to the circular mask. For the Nexus 4, I rate the v1 as better for the visual experience due to not being able to see the edges of the screen, but the v2 is still an easier experience because of the circular mask holding the phone in place better.

Cardboard: Easy, cheap VR
Well built, great slip case that was initially a little stiff to get the viewer out of in the first place, but it's Cardboard and it works. There are a few niggles - the velcro that holds it shut is _too_ good and can need some force to separate and is weakening the top flap as a result, sometimes the conductive tape can press on the screen when you push your face against the viewer, but it's not a deal breaker. If you're looking to find out about VR, well, it's the simple way in.While it's a great first experience, phone-based VR can't hold a candle to the level of fidelity and immersion on offer from dedicated headsets, mainly because they're being driven by a high end pc (or PS4 in the case of Morpheus) and use an array of visual markers that get proper positional data about your orientation. For this it can be hard to find apps that work properly. At this stage they're all experimental. Some map well to the lenses and give good VR and others are way poorer, sometimes resulting in visual overlap from one eye to the next. Some have good control systems, others don't implement the Cardboard standards, like turning 90degrees to quit out. That's not a slight on this unit at all - it's just a snapshot of the wild west anything goes ethos that marks the start of the new frontier - and it's very exciting out there!

Bad velcro, everything else perfect.
As everybody has said the top Velcro breaks almost immediately, pulling off the cardboard. Other than that it seems to work really well - especially considering it's so cheap.Knocking one star off because that Velcro is in a pretty important place and needs to stand up to repeated use, and it broke almost immediately out of the box. I do hope there's a new version that comes out with a better mechanism.

Great fun! Works perfectly
Great fun! Works perfectly. The only thing is the velcro is not sticking anymore. Had to staple it to the cardboard but it's all good now. :)

VR in a cardboard box
A really clever device, it would have been nice to include the strap to allow it to be 'hands free', rather than have that as a separate purchase.

Two Stars
Not great value. Cardboard bends and gets dirty easily. Not very immersive experience.
