I used this to transfer files to & from my external hard drive on the go! I keep everything backup on my hard drive and sometimes I need files to send for personal things and can not use my external hard drive on my business computer. I carry my personal ipad but dont want another laptop to carry... It is small light and powerful. I also move pictures and videos wireless off my phone to my hard drive to free up storage. I don't like paying a month subscription for storage! I also use it to as a backup charger on the go! Great investment! Type C, USB and SD Card reader.

I bought this to save me taking a laptop when travelling. I am able to backup an SD card from the camera at the end of the day without any issues.There are no plans at this stage to use it as a router.I contacted tech support to get the latest firmware and was advised it is up to date.They also helped me to set the backup time stamp to current time.The tech support was almost instantaneous, courteous and comprehensive.I would buy the product again.

At first I was happy with it. The interface is a bit klunky, and the app kept asking for permission to know my location and other invasive things, which I didn't care for. Also you can't hot plug anything...you have to plug in the card and USB drive BEFORE you power up. But at first it DID do the one thing I needed it to do...make backup copies from an SD card to a hard drive. That worked the first 4 times. On the fifth time, after a while the SD icon started blinking red, which was new. I powered down and disconnected everything. It had copied over a few of the files from the SD card to USB and then DELETED ALL THE FILES FROM THE SD CARD. I bought this product to protect data, and instead it destroyed data. Bad, bad, bad. I returned it.

I bought this and a small SSD to back up the memory cards from my camera at the end of each day while on vacation. Worked great! I haven’t used any of the other features, but the transfer from card to external drive (purchased separately) was easy and worked flawlessly.

I have been using the NewQ to back up my SD cards (from my cameras) to a portable SSD when traveling without having to carry a laptop. It gets the job done but takes over an hour to back up a 64GB v90 SD card. I like that the NewQ is compact and light weight but I don’t like that I can’t copy the contents of the SD card to a specific folder on the SSD and that the backup takes up quite a bit of time. I’d love a version of this with a bit more flexibility in the file management and faster transfer speed.UPDATE: I have used this device on two more trips and both times the file system on the SSD (three different brands and models) was corrupted and all data was lost and I had to go back to the original SD cards to get my photos. This is a neat idea and I wish it actually worked reliably. I would recommend avoiding this product if your plan is to use it for photo backup.

Purchased for a 2 week to Australia.Was able to effortlessly and reliably backup the days photos to a USB Harddrive, thus freeing up camera memory chips for the next day.Love this device. Now a very important include for my photo-outings.

Was easy to use when I could figure out how to connect. I am not tech minded but If I can do anyone can do.
