Nice clutch kit for Subaru 2.5 L engine
I bought this as part of an engine transplant project on a 2002 Subaru Outback with a 2.5 L engine. The kit comes with clutch plate, pressure plate, pilot bearing, release bearing, and an alignment tool. I don't know how to judge the quality from looking at the components, but my research revealed that it was the OEM part for Subaru. It fit perfectly onto the flywheel and transmission input shaft and, after several hundred miles, seems to be working well. I don't know whether it was my doing (I had the flywheel machined, but it is possible that I inadvertently dirtied a part by touching it with dirty hands) or just the nature of the friction material, but it gave off a burning clutch smell for a few miles. The smell soon dissipated and the clutch works fine. It engages smoothly and does what I expect it to do. One part that I wish the manufacturer had included is the paper clip-looking clips that hold the release bearing on the fork. It seems likely that the old ones get heat stressed and should be replaced. A Subaru-specific problem that I ran into is that the transmission shaft housing (also called a snout or quill) had worn, perhaps due to omission of lubricant by a previous installer. The quill is made of aluminum, and the steel bearing can wear a groove in it. I bought a kit consisting of a steel sleeve and oversize release bearing, which added time and expense to the job. If you are doing a Subaru and the clutch engagement and release feels funny you may also have this problem, so you may wish to look into a sleeve kit before you dig into the job.

So much better
I followed some instructions from a guy on Youtube and successfully replaced my clutch... ok, I've done other clutches before but never actually pulled an engine out to do it. On a Subaru, you either need a full lift and you pull the transmission out, or you pull the engine. It took me about 2.5 hours to pull the engine, and about the same to put it all back together- though I needed to make a few side trips to get new valve cover gaskets, sparkplugs, a different flywheel, etc... This clutch kit came with all the parts I needed for the clutch itself. The flywheel is another story- the first one I picked up from Napa was just the outer ring- you need a special (16mm I think) torx socket to remove the inner hub from the old one and connect it to the flywheel "donut". After reading of everyones' horror stories about these bolts (most break when trying to remove them). I called around and got a brand new, one piece flywheel from O'Rielly for about 15 bucks more- well worth it, and it was by far a better machined piece of metal. As for the cluitch- the Subaru started the infamous clutch chatter at 12,000 miles (Stealership said, " all Subbies do that when they are cold, blah, blah,blah..."). We've lived with it for another 11 years until I finally got fed up. It now shifts like butter- absolutely NO chatter- it's like a new car. This kit was cheaper than anything I could find locally, and probably better quality.

It works well and the price is right!
I just replaced my clutch on my 06 Subaru Legacy (NOT GT). This kit came with everything I needed at a great price. I took a gamble on the brand, since I've never used it before, and a clutch is not something I want to do twice! I must say that as the break-in period is just about finished, the clutch has very a smooth, OE feeling engagement. Not bad for $150 cheaper than a "Genuine" Subaru replacement! It does the job on a basic daily driver very well. I wont give it a 5 start until I've put some more miles on it to really see how it holds up, but so far after a month, I'm liking it.

Feels like butter again!!!
Purchased this clutch kit for my 02 impreza ts wagon. I was experiencing severe clutch shudder and decided to replace the clutch while I had the engine pulled to do my head gaskets. I also purchased & replaced the old flywheel with the Sachs flywheel. Fit perfectly without any hitches and now I have a buttery smooth clutch again. It comes with a new pilot bearing, throwout bearing, clutch disk, pressure plate, plastic alignment tool, and some exedy grease. I did not use the supplied throwout bearing because I bought a transmission snout repair sleeve (recommend), which comes an over-sized bearing to fit on the stainless steel repair sleeve. The original supplied throwout bearing will not fit over the repair sleeve. The transmission case of subarus is made of aluminum. The throwout bearing, which slides on the snout of the transmission case eventually damages the snout, eventually to the point where the entire case needs to be replaced $$$$!!! If you change your clutch, you should also buy a repair sleeve kit. It runs about $150.00, but it's a small investment in compared to the possible cost of replacing the entire trans case.

KSB04 also fits the 2005 2.0 lt Non-Turbo Forester
Even though I was unable to get confirmation from Exedy or Amazon on compatibility of this kit with the 2.0 lt Non-Turbo Forester sold in some non-US international markets, I took a calculated risk and went ahead and ordered this item, based on clutch specifications listed in the Forester Service Manual. The clutch is a perfect fit and I am very satisfied with the performance. The parts, especially the clutch cover and plate are obviously of high quality. Probably the same parts Exedy supplies to Subaru as OEM.A word about AmazonGlobal shipping that I used for this and another item earlier as an international customer. Very happy with the fast and hassle-free international shipping. The customs pre-pay option is great and I faced zero issues with customs.
