Much better than a normal plate.
I really enjoy this placemat. It depends on the surface I'm putting it on whether it sticks or not. On our wood table it stays put, but my daughter can lift it. It's still better than a normal plate which easily slides all around.

Might be the only plate we will use
On our wood dining table it sticks really well. So far she hasn't thrown it on the floor, which was the problem we were having with any bowl or plate. Really easy to hand wash and it stands up in the dish rack.

Wonderful. Stays in place and keeps baby’s snacks off the floor. Got this for my daughter to use with her baby. She keeps it in the diaper bag and uses it whenever they go out to eat. Have had so many compliments on it(usually from wait staff).
