Sturdy, well made and easily as good as brands that cost twice as much!I am not a medical person I am someone who trains hard and tests even harder!I do have training and have needed to use a variety of medical supplies to save people and or animals. Here is what a tourniquet- needs too do.1. When required it needs to prevent blood flow through extremities that require a tourniquet application.2. It needs to do so without compromising tissue in too great a way.3. It needs to be capable of taking torque necessary to prevent blood flow.4. It needs to be capable of holding this torque and compression for up too 4 hours, (approximately.)5. It needs to do this exactly ONE TIME!(This tourniquet- fits every single area of need and allows me too save half the amount of money I would have spent on a more expensive version. This allows me too have two for every one I may have had before now. )Good job with an amazing product line Recon Medical! I now own 3 and am buying 3 more shortly!(Exposure to blood negates further use in any sanitary environment, hence the ONE USE ONLY)

While I have very thankfully not had to use this tournniquet I can tell the internet the aspects that made me purchase it. First it blue. During periods of heightened stress the brain will cue in on simple details first. It is blue and not colored like anything else in my first aid kit. Second, blue is a primary color, a color our brain will cue to before yellow or black. Third, current research into how our brains perceive colors and what colors we are most sensitive to had indicated that humans are more sensitive to blue over other safety colors like orange.The windlass is metal not plastic.The whole tournniquet seems to be of very similar quality to those that cost twice as much.Finally, shipping was fast and customer service has followed up with me out of courtesy.

This is my first tourniquet purchase as I was assembling my first First Aid Kit. Being not sure what to do I purchased this Recon Medical Gen 3 as well as a RATS tourniquet and while each tourniquet design has their merits, the Recon 3 has my confidence. As I have no medical training I felt the Recon model was the easier to use and provided less guesswork or manipulation than the RATS. At 6.5 in tall and 2.5 in wide it's compact enough for my molle bag and comes with a 'uv resistant' ziplock which helps keep it separate from the other items in my kit. The bright blue is eye catching and can been seen from afar (an aspect I specifically wanted). I'll keep both tourniquets, but will have the Recon Gen 3 as part of my regular First Aid Kit.

Probably one of the best tourniquets I've used so far.The bright color makes it easy to distinguish against gear, mud, and gore.The material has held up superbly well.The metal handle is perfect as I have a habit of snapping the plastic ones.The toung hole has been useless for me but maybe someone else out there might like it. Hasn't affected the quality of the tourniquet and doesn't get in the way.My only disappointment is that these are not approved to be used in the military.The company also offer cases for your tourniquets if that's something you want.

I haven't had to use it for a real situation yet (thank the Lord) but from what I can tell, this is a good tourniquet. If you're looking to buy a tourniquet, word of advice - if it's not expensive, it's not good. I've seen knock off brands that advertise their tourniquets with pictures of a little boy that has a scrape on his knee, or people with scraped elbows who are putting this on their arms to "control the bleeding". TOURNIQUETS ARE FOR LIFE-THREATENING BLEEDING, NOT SCRAPED KNEES! The only time you should be using this is if you are bleeding so profusely that it cannot be controlled with direct pressure (including loss of limb.)This is made of good material, is sturdy, and I have used it on myself in practice a few times without any issues, breaks or tears. The only thing I don't love about it is that the windlass (the stick you twist to make it tighter) is metal and it can be a little harder to maneuver into the clip. I prefer the sturdy plastic windlasses but that's a personal preference on my part Other than that, it's a great tool and I recommend that EMT's/first responders, avid hikers, and the like carry a tourniquet with them. This is a good one to get, even just to use as a teaching tool in first aid classes.

I have 8 of these scattered among my first aid kits. Sound construction; love the metal windlass. At first I bought only black ones but now I'm getting the orange ones (greater visibility) and I have a couple of blue ones (for training). They're an awesome value.

This is definitely a good item to have in any first aid kit you have, being in the military I’ve used tourniquets plenty of times and they’re life savers for sure, in today’s day and age you never know what you’ll come across whether on the side of the road, in a store, etc. great life saving device as long and you know how to implement it. And the metal windlass is a great addition, my CAT tourniquets I still have are plastic windlasses and sometimes aren’t so reliable.

Great price for a high quality, easy to use emergency tourniquet. This is a tourniquet that every gun owner or household should have in the car and home. Emergencies happen at unanticipated times and places. Calling 911 may not be enough or quick enough to save a life.
