FreyaWomen's Sonic Underwire Sports Bra

The Freya sports bra is THAT GOOD.
The bottom line with bras in general, and sports bras especially, is that every person's breasts are different (size, of course, but also shape, spacing, etc.) and I'm probably preaching to the choir here, but it's worth trying several before you find the one that complements your contours. I say "one" because for me, there has been, literally, ONE. I have had the Freya 34DD in Crimson for upwards of 7 months, and it has remained my go-to sports bra list for the entire time, unlike MANY I took home and later got rid of. I'm ordering another because it is THAT GOOD.What earned the Freya top ranks in my closet? Primarily the snug fit, especially between the "girls" - I tend to sweat A. LOT. 99% of the sports bras out there (which are primarily shelf style) smoosh me toward the midline, which quickly makes me a soggy, uncomfortable, hot mess. There is nothing I hate more than a lake forming into between my girls and dripping down my front. Even though the Freya bra can't stop me from sweating, it decreases the amount significantly, and most of all keeps things breathable -- and me WAY more comfortable -- in the process. And as many others have mentioned, the no-bounce factor is key. I do a wide variety of activities in the Freya and it keeps me in line (so to speak) no matter what I'm doing. The fabric is fabulously colorful and so far has held up very well to weekly washings. It's easily the best money I've spent on a sports bra in my life. Highly recommended!

A Device of Torture
I wanted to love this bra, and there is so much to like about it, but ultimately I have to give it only one star because it is incredibly painful to wear. I received it today, immediately put it on and wore it around the house. Within an hour, I noticed that it was chafing against my skin. This is while sitting around, not exercising, not sweating. At first I thought I might be allergic to the fabric, even though I don't have fabric allergies or sensitive skin. Then I realized it was the band around the bottom (and the straps). When I took off the bra after wearing it for a few hours, I found red welts all over my torso. And they were in the EXACT place where there was inside stitching on the band. This was overstitching, very well made, but it seemed to be either polyester or even nylon thread, and when I ran my finger over it it felt quite rough. So basically I was walking around with the stitch equivalent of sandpaper rubbing against my skin for a few hours. I can't imagine how painful it would be to actually exercise in this bra!The bra is beautifully constructed, designed to last. It's high quality. But if it hurts to wear it, what good is it?A couple of other points:I wear a 34DD. The bra was sized well, it fit snugly on the loosest hook, giving me room to tighten it as the fabric loosened up over time. However:1) the bottom band, at the front, right in the middle, it poufs out just a little bit, doesn't lie flat against my skin.2) if you want to hook the two straps together racerback style, you'll have to let them out several inches. There is no "give" in the straps and they need to be lengthened if they're going diagonally to meet in the middle of your back, rather than going straight up and down. I found that the straps weren't quite long enough to do racerback, even when I let out the straps to full length.Unfortunately I am returning this bra, and my quest for the perfect sports bra continues.

Not just for sports!
I've started to prefer a well-made sports bra to a 'normal' everyday bra, and this Freya Underwire Sports Bra has become my go-to where it doesn't show through any outer clothing (e.g. thin-strapped tops). After discovering this brand, as well as the proper way to size, through Reddit, I am finally comfortable in a bra that is actually designed to fit me. You can expect an adjustment period with this bra (it feels like I'm wearing a corset at first) but once past that, it's a whole new level of support. The only reason it's not 5 stars is because nipple coverage is a little on the thin side, and if the fabric of my top isn't thick enough, pretty much everyone will know when I'm cold.

Not enough side support for larger busts
I needed a seamless bra to wear under knitwear. I love my Freya Active Underwired Sports Bras for support and comfort, but the seam is visible under knitwear, so I selected this one as an alternative. Even though I was never happy about the support, it accomplished the goal of of a smooth line under knitwear. The support in this bra leaves much to be desired, though. It lacks sufficient side support for large busted women like me (E/F) resulting in the bosom spreading into the underarm area. It also lacks sufficient support that distributes the tissue more evenly around the cup. This results in a very bottom heavy "melon" appearance. I caught a glimpse of myself in a full length mirror the other day and was shocked and dismayed that what I saw was actually how I looked in this bra, wider and rounder. Smaller busted women will have more success with this style.

Best bra ever
This is the first bra in my entire life that actually fit, provides support, the straps don't cut into my shoulders and it's well made. It's become my every-day bra. The bra has what I call a sling inside each cup (see provided pic) that contour but doesn't compress.

No go for small bands!
Completely unwearable.I'm petite with a 26 band size. I love when 28s run small. While I can clasp it, and the bra is as snug as a sports bra should be, it isn't functional due to the placement of the cups and straps. The width of the cups are 16 inches together. The non-cup bit of the bra (the back, with the clasps) is 11 inches on the last hook. The front half of me is 12 inches. This means that I have cups that want to end at my back. The straps want to be right where my arms start to come out of my shoulders. . . and this does not work. My arms get their circulation cut off. . . severe chaffing to my armpit region. . . it's horrible! This was either made for someone really flat and wide, OR it was just thrown in as on option for the sake of having a large range of sizes. The cups were obviously made for larger band sizes. No adjustment was made for smaller frames.I would not recommend this for anyone along my size!

The best I’ve tried
I’ve tried a few sports bras that were comfortable but light support. This is both very comfortable and provides full support... and looks really good too, sporty rather than heavy and clumsy (I purchased the red one).I feel more comfortable and confident doing high impact exercise. It didn’t come sealed in a bag for confidence that it isn’t a return (hence 4 stars), but it arrived clean, with tags and looks new.
