only saved by the fact that Pentel Energel refills fit into it
Well... the pen is well-made. As far as I can tell, it's solid brass. The clip is also well made- it's one piece, and the whole thing moves with a spring action when you open it to clip onto something. The cartridge that comes with this pen is horrible. I felt like I was dragging it across the paper I tried it on. The wax / plastic on the tip may have had something to do with it. With other pens, it just sort of falls off; this one requires you to work at it, and it doesn't come off easily. When screwing the pen together, the threads aren't as tight & precise as they would be on a German pen. Also, there was a bit of oil in it when I first started messing with it.The picture above includes four cartridges. From top to bottom, they are a Pentel Energel, a Schneider Topball 850, the no-name cartridge that came with this pen, and a Pilot G2. Note that even though the Schneider and Pilot look very much like the original cartridge, they do not fit. (After looking intently at the cartridges, I can't figure out what the slight difference is.)The original cartridge is so bad, I was going to return this or toss it. The only reason I decided not to was because it turned out the Pentel Energel cartridge worked in this pen.

More Substandard Garbage from China
As usual, there is no ascertaining whether or not what you are buying from Amazon is from China (a country which under regulates its industry and underpays its labor) or not until you open the box. That not withstanding, this pen is an inferior item. I don't know what crappy metal this thing is made of, but feels and looks very much like cast aluminum, or something just short of shiny plastic that's hard enough to pass for metal. It's definately not anything that you would expect for an American made pen (stainless, titanium, brass or some other actual quality material. This inferior manufacturer apparently doesn't pay too much attention to the packaging and marketing of their product either. As you can plainly see, Amazon has this pen listed as having the brand, "Penneed."But when the junk finally arrives the name is changed to "Pemmeed."Careless, inferior, it writes like your trying to scratch ink on to paper with a sewing needle.DO NOT give this as a gift. Your friend will think you hate them.

Smooth writing pen! Feels good in the hand!
I had received another one of these pens in rose gold and loved it so much I bought myself the gold version. It feels solid in my hand and has a texture so it doesn't slip like a smooth pen can. The ink flow smoothly while writing without any clumps or leaks. It has clearly become one of my favorite pen brands! If you are looking for a fancy pen to give to a writer on your gift list, to pair it with a journal or to treat yourself to a something nice without the hefty price, this pen is it!

Quality Pen (Update)
The pen has good balance and is made very well, however, the cartridge that comes with it is another story. If you are a writer that presses firmly on the paper, you may cut through it. The cartridge is more of a .5 mm than a medium .7 mm. Even that said the quality of the cartridge and the way it writes is terrible. It does not write smoothly over paper of any type. I tried cross refills and they do not fit. So if you can find another type of refill then you would have a nice pen!*****UPDATE******* Customer service contacted me about this review, and was willing to send the ball point version of this pen. I will have to say it is very smooth to write with and I am very happy with the purchase!

Cheaply made
It was broke when I received it, the clip was broken off and I sent them an email, they never responded and never replaced it.It’s pretty and the box it comes in is cool presentation wise but I’d rather have a functioning pen.

I had no idea a pen could be this disappointing and aggravating. Who Knew.
I decided that, as a woman of a certain age, I deserve a pen that is somehow a little better than your average BIC. Question this logic if you will.I picked out this pen based in simple appearance and the high customer ratings. I splurged (so far as the cost of pens go). I figured at worse I had a nice looking equivalent of a BIC.But no. No.Pros:Nice color. (Rose?)Cons:In the Hand: The pen itself is very short and stubby and the feel and weight is very awkwardInk: The flow of ink and feel of writing was similar to any other pen. But after a couple of weeks, the ink is now less smooth and I have to re-write some letters. This is bizarre for a nearly brand new pen, much less one that is more costly. On the desk: LOUD AS HELL. The cap barely stays on the back end of the pen; it's guaranteed to fall off very quickly and make a loud clanging metal sound as it lands on a desk. This is disruptive during zoom calls. I had to abandon the cap to avoid this. But Guess What : When I drop the oddly-weighted-stubby pen, it not only clanks on the table with volume, it then LOUDLY ROLLS ACROSS THE TABLE giving any Zoom-mates the impression I am playing marbles or losing control of some unknown metal objects.I also just touched this pen to my iPhone and it cracked my screen protector. Really? Why?I am at a loss for how much I regret buying this random tiny item. It interrupted several important meetings before I final pitched it into the trash.

It’s a nice pen
Overall, I like this pen. I’m picky about pens and I need something that writes smoothly or it impacts my handwriting. This writes FAIRLY smoothly in my opinion. I don’t feel like it’s a fine point (I honestly don’t know what the description said), but it seems like it’s closer to that than a medium point. The ink comes out nicely but when I write with it, the tip just feels a bit scratchy like a fine point pen. I think it’s just because I’m used to medium, ball point pens.It is a heavier pen, which I like, as it makes it feel like a more expensive pen. The color is very pretty (rose gold) and it comes in a nice gift box that I keep it in. The top of the pen will fall off if you don’t push it on good, but as long as I do that, it doesn’t fall off while I’m writing.Overall, I think it’s a nice pen at a reasonable price. My only slight dislike is it’s closer to fine point and I like medium point.
