The Lunar Chronicles Boxed Set: Cinder, Scarlet, Cress, Fairest, Stars Above, Winter

I would call myself an impatient reader. I read a lot and I'll read any genre as long as it's well written. However, I am typically not big on series - they lose steam and I get bored... This is the rare exception. Admittedly, this is only the second series I have read cover to cover and not stopped through the entire series - it is THAT good! Schwab's Darker Shade of Magic is the other fabulous series I couldn't put down!I am a Librarian and the middle school kids had said Lunar Chronicles was great, I said Oh yeah? A fairy tale retelling? OK, probably not my go-to, but sounds interesting. But I picked up the new cover of Cinder for the Library because it is just so beautiful. I love all the new, beautifully illustrated covers! I'm glad these books are getting another round of readers! So, I put the "new" Cinder on display and a teacher came in and saw it and said, Oh my gosh, I'm reading that book right now, and it is SO GOOD! I was surprised that a in-her-fifties teacher was gushing over it, so I picked it up and just started reading it. I couldn't not finish it and I've been recommending it to everyone who likes Sci-fi, fantasy, or YA, or romance....that covers a lot of people! So I bought the whole 6 book set with the new covers!The Lunar Chronicles is technically perfect. Really. The writing and pacing is flawless. The action and mystery keeps you engaged and reading, the romance is age-appropriate and just subtle but romantic. The technology, science fiction and fantasy details are so plausible, which is hard to pull off - I've read a lot of sci-fi/fantasy novels that truly fall short here. So many things to love! I love how the books all build and add a new set of characters without losing sight of the original characters, so by the last book you have a whole group of complex and well built characters and back-stories. I love that it just HINTS to the fairy tales - it is not a retelling. I love that. Anyway, read this series! Well done, thank you Marissa Meyer! You have to thank the author for all their amazing, hard work, right? This is something special.

The set is good and they are a good read. The box was a little damaged when we got it but I think that was mostly in shipping

This is one of my favorite book series I have read and I love this box set! The book covers are beautiful.

The media could not be loaded. It came in pretty good conditions. I was expecimg some dammages on the corners but thankfully there where none.This books are soo pretty, the front cover is beautiful, all the books and this edition.'Til now, just read Cinder and I must say I.LOVE.IT!Wasn't expectin to do, I was just waiting for another "good" retelling of Cinderella but what I found here was just an amazing story.Just gonna say, it is set in the future so we have science fiction, romance, political conflicts, magic-powers, sad things, happy things, funny dialogs and situations and the best, great characters!!We get a little bit of all this elements placed through all the first book, all well place...And the last thing, I must say I expected these books to be standalone, one story per book, I mean, the story of Cinder on the first book with a conclusion, the second book, another story of Scarlet and its conclusion but no, what we get here is a saga, a main story that develops trough every book. Was not expecting it but believe me, I love it!

A great twist on fairy tales! I really enjoyed the storyline just a hit of the old tales with a twist I recommend this series to anyone who wants something different. Sweet, cyborg Cinderella and friends go on a fabulous journey.

This is a fun series with an interesting science fiction take on the classic fairy tales. Would recommend for ages 12 and up. Not too juvenile for adults, not too mature for teens.

The books came in pretty quickly. I actually bought the series for my daughter. I've already read these but they were such great books I had to get them for my age appropriate daughter. Packing was clean and sturdy. Exactly what it says it it.
