Well here we have the mighty cayin n6ii with the stock A01 card with the AKM 4497. First let's discuss aesthetics and build quality. The unit is a little chunky monkey and clocks in at 290 grams. It has a 2.5 glass on the front and a glass backBuild quality is excellent and this thing feels very nice in hand. Not the most pocketable dap but this thing is packed with a lot of goodness.First of course is the fact that you can change modules that not only support different amping options but also different dacs! That means buying a new module is like getting a new dap sound wise.Second, it's open Oreo with cayin's bypass for android sbc, so no downsampling. Also the thing has a monstrous battery. I'm getting about 12 or so hours with balanced out and eq.The screen is very good with nice saturation and great viewing angles. Also a snapdragon processor with 4 gigs of ram makes the UI quick and responsive. One of the smoothest and fastest of any dap I've used, very close to fiio m11 perfomance and speed. Wifi, bluetooth, and all apps I've used- Anazon music, Tidal, neutron, you tube etc run flawlessly.Ok now on to the best part, the sound!With the stock A01 moudule the sound is weighty, smooth and rich. It's a very intoxicating mix. Out of the balanced out the sound stage is bigger than average and depth and 3d positioning is exquisite.Bass is deep and powerful, but well controlled and pretty fast despite the smoothness. Mids are liquid and full and organic sounding and the treble is well extended and well rounded, not sibilant unless the source is rough or the iems are hot.It's a very dense organic sound, but don't think it's not technical because there is a ton of detail and resolution in that smoothness. There isn't any veil and you know you're listening to top shelf kit.Me, I love the sound signature to death. There are more technical sounding daps, but not better sounding imo.Also you get a pretty nice case with the unit, at this price you expect it. But Sony's and Ak's similar models come sans case and don't have the audio chops this baby does. To my ears I like the sound of this better than wm1a and ak futura by quite a bit.Oh I forgot, there are 3 gain settings and the power can go ridiculously high on balanced and drive most everything. Also you have hiby music with mseb and a similar cayin music app already installed.I prefer the cayin app and neutron myself but they're all good.In summary, if you want to be wowed by sound (with good iems/cans) and want flexibility of changing modules I can't recommend this thing enough. I'm listening to Alan Parsons 'The turn of a friendly card' as I type this and it's just magic sounding :) I'm using akt8ieii iems btw.Also I have to give a shout out to musicteck for making it easy to buy these great daps. Andrew's easy to deal with and will take care of you. I also recommend you check out the n6ii thread on headfi, it's a lot of money to spend and the more knowledge you have the better.But my ears are really happy! There's a few old sayings that come to mind:1. You get what you pay for2. Buy once, cry onceA high end component that is built extremely well, attention to detail and delivers on performance. Purchasing something else would have left me wondering "what if". No wondering and no regret.

I used to have a Sony WM1A, this one has better sounds than that and also looks pretty good.

I'm very pleased with my Cayin N6ii0 and its features. I also have a Sony WM1A but I was looking form a DAP with streaming capabilities.The sound is very musical with A01 amp, I found it similar to WM1A but a bit wider.The output power (4.4mm balanced) is amazing, much more than WM1A.It comes with full Google Store service so you can use get Tidal, UAPP, etc.The Cayin player is no nice and snappy, in fact all the UI is.I've been using it also as USB DAC to replace my previous THX Portable.Batery lifetime seems to be real good compared to THX Portable.It comes the 2 screen protectors, one already installed and the other one inside the black envelope.I'm looking forward to get E01 amp and give it a try.
