STAR WARS: ROGUE ONE ADAPTATION Paperback – November 28, 2017

Jody Houser’s comic book adaptation of “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story” features art by Emilio Laiso, Paolo Villanelli, and Oscar Bazaldua and colors by Rachelle Rosenberg. Like Alexander Freed’s novelization of the film, Houser’s story includes scenes that did not make the final cut of the film, such as Jyn’s interaction with her cellmate on Wobani. Houser also condenses some events and moves others, such as Cassian receiving orders to execute Galen, so that they add dramatic weight. In the latter example, Houser portrays Cassian’s orders as him processing them just as K-2SO calls his attention to Jyn’s blaster and her discussion of trust going both ways. Houser also includes flashbacks of Jyn working with Saw. Further added or extended scenes include flashbacks of Galen’s early interactions with Director Krennic, more character development for Bodhi Rook (particularly in his interactions with K-2SO), the Rebels disarming the Imperial inspection team on Scarif, and K-2SO getting the plans of Scarif from another Imperial droid. The film included some quick references to “Star Wars: Rebels,” but artist Laiso forefronts the Ghost in an image of the Rebel fleet approaching Scarif.Included in this volume is the one-shot story, “Star Wars: Rogue One – Cassian & K-2SO Special,” written by Duane Swierczynski with art by Fernando Blanco. The story shows how the two characters met while Cassian Andor was trying to find a source for Imperial code on a backwater world, resulting in his reprogramming K-2SO. Swierczynski’s narrative should be particularly interesting as Disney plans to make a Cassian Andor series for Disney+. Blanco’s art resembles the style used in Dark Horse’s 1990s comics set during the Age of Rebellion, adding a nice tone to the narrative.

While I found the story within the graphic novel to be very abrupt I believe it also properly conveyed the story. I thoroughly enjoyed it.

I really liked the amount of pages but kind of so so about it being a hardback book. Excellent adaption of the movie and I really liked the extra story that was included.Highly recommended for Star Wars fans. I enjoyed the second story too!

Both great art and storytelling. True to the movie plus some mkre. Well worth the time and money to purchase.

Big star wars fan, for years. I thought this was a awesome adaptation and I would recommend this book to any star wars fan.

Adds to the movie

Nice artwork. Some small dialogues not in the movie, including with Admiral Raddus (may he rest in peace), Jyn and Chirrut, and Kaytoo and Bodhi.Also, this version has a cool bonus: the story of how Cassian met Kaytoo for the first time.

A good graphic interpretation of this fantastic movie. It's unfortunate that Disney chooses to release these AFTER the movie has left the theaters.

A must have for Rogue One fans. The best star wars movie in recent times! (The last was Revenge of the Sith back in 2005).The art is great and the writing of course. Thanks amazon for a great deal

The book arrived very promptly and in described condition ... and was VERY securely bubble-wrapped! I would recommend this seller. As for the book itself, the artwork is beautiful and there are little tidbits to flesh out the story beyond what the movie depicted. Highly recommended.
