Easy to get on the butt stock. Can't tell if it does anything. Doesn't look horrible.
Put this on a maverick and it fits very well. It's a little goofy looking at the seam stitches on the back and the material is a bit puffy there. Overall, it's better than buying something that has to be trimmed down. It does a good job of helping with recoil from what I've shot so far. The padding is pretty good and overall seems to be built well.

Just got these
I just got these in and think they are very nice for the job I have a hand. I just need to tame the felt recoil of a few Lever action rifles, with metal capped stocks, these fit right on, are very soft and will not harm the wood, and have a jelled pilling that should improve shooting experience. Very nice material, well-constructed and very cost effective.

good quality, very difficult to install
thanks to the review that suggested turning this inside out and rolling it on. After struggling with it for more than 10 minutes, I was nearly ready to return it for being too small. To Robert J who said it was intuitive and easy, were you putting this on a youth stock? if it was so easy, you should have shared how you did it. a standard size stock is very difficult. Eventually, I used a hard thin piece of plastic, like the end of a toothbrush, to slide underneath and get it to go over both ends until it was on far enough I could slide it on the rest of the way. once it’s on it fits very tightly and feels good and certainly helps with length of pull issues . The quality is great as it held up to the abuse needed to get it installed .

A great limb saver for a rough Mosin!
This is honestly such a limb saver! I have a Mosin Nagant that is not very nice when it fires. The last few times I've fired it has caused me some bruising. I normally blow through about 30-40 rounds per range day so my shoulder gets worn down. Luckily, I found this and took my chances with it. A lot of people complain that these are hard to slip on but I've learned that simply slipping it on while it's inside out is the easiest method. The gel inside the fabric definitely makes it feel a lot smoother than those rubber ones I've seen. I can also happily say that it's actually made pretty well! All in all it's a very good limb saver. Works great for a Mosin Nagant if anyone was curious about this fitting on Mosins.

They do absorb some of the kick
While these can be difficult to put on, once you got them on, they fit perfectly and do what they're suppose to do. I recommend them for anyone who likes to shoot many rounds on the range. I have them on my 12 gauge, 45/70, and 300 Win Mag and they do absorb a lot of the kick for your more powerful rifles.

Tamed my mule of a shotgun...
I have a Winchester Model 1400 (semi auto 12 gauge) that is stock. It isn't anything fancy but it gets the job done. I am a bigger guy and didn't think this shotgun would be uncomfortable until I shot sporting clays for the first time. About halfway through the course I really started feeling how rough this shotgun is on your shoulder since it is a wood stock with no pad. The shotgun sat in a safe for years until I was invited to shoot a sporting clay fundraiser with a friend. I was really close to just buying a new O/U shotgun and giving up on the Winchester. Instead I decided to give it another chance and add a recoil pad to see if it would make this shotgun useable for sporting clays. This recoil pad went on fairly easily and stayed in place with no issues at all. More importantly, it made the Winchester a pleasure to shoot. Not only was I not bruised and beat up after the round, I was ready to go back around the course again. This recoil pad absolutely chewed up and spat out all of the recoil my shotgun offered. I would definitely purchase this item again (I have a lever action 30-30 that is a little aggressive that I may try this on).

Make sure the dimensions before you buy it
Really hard to fit on won't fit on my shotgun. So it's just in a box.

Smaller than stated
This didn't fit the rifle I got it for. To small. So I put it on a 357 lever rifle. Did it need it ? No but it does help hold the wood stock better in "the pocket" so it's serving a purpose of some kind.
