Works great!
I own an RV and got tired of the old metal-based unit - this one I can see at night and works great in an RV.

A little setup is required but then it works well!
This was a necessary purchase as our electric utility service has just introduced "peak summer rates" for the first time, charging much more for peak summer time, week day electricity between 11am and 7 pm.First - before you begin installation - such a simple thing - be sure to turn off power to your HVAC system. I thought I could do it without shorting the wires but ended up bursting a fuse.I mapped the low voltage wires to the new thermostat to match their connections on my old unit, so the wiring was very easy. (Note: you will need a small flathead eyeglasses screwdriver.)The most tricky part is doing all of the initial setup to match your system. I had two questions on that and actually just asked my regular HVAC service tech to confirm my setting choices before starting. The instructions are reasonably clear and once I get into it, no problem. Except, a little larger font size would have been welcome.Programming the 7-day on/off times was a little tedious, but now that it is set, this is a good unit.Lastly, if installation of something like this is more than you want to try on your own, get it and let your service tech install it for you during a regular service visit and it probably won't cost you any extra.

Self installed, no electrician required!
I really like the progamability. It did take some research to get it wired correctly. The instructions only give 1 senario, you tube to the rescue.

Decent Thermostat
I really liked this at first. I was relatively easy to install & setup. The display screen on the one I received has issues and doesn’t display consistently, if you press on the screen it will start working again. The thermostat continues to operate when the display isn’t working.

FEELS STURDY/HEAVY: NICE CONTROLS: SOME DESIGN”FLAWS”: Mine is a questionable unit: 24 HOUR TIME
This unit has some “heavy” sturdy feeling construction. The controls seem to be nicely laid out and functional.“For now” it Appears that the clock only reads in “24 hour military time mode.” (24 hour time mode kind of annoys me. Just because I don’t use it.)I VERY FOOLISHLY removed the old thermostat and started disconnecting wires from the old thermostat mount. Before even opening up the box and looking at the new one. Why did I do that?!?THE UNIT I WAS SENT HAS ISSUES.The unit I was sent appears to be used. (Not refurbished, just used.)I opened it up and the screen did not have any protective plastic film on it.It did have some “textured” grunge on the screen that I need to wipe off with a damp towel.I THEN NOTICE GRUNGE ON A COUPLE OF SPOTS ON THE SPINE OF THE INSTRUCTIONS. I WENT TO SCRAP IT OFF and found that it IS HEAVY RUST ON 2 STAPLES THERE!(THIS SIGN OF MOISTURE, RUST AND CORROSION HAPPENING INSIDE OF THE BOX DOES NOT BODE WELL FOR ELECTRONICS.)That rust is what also reminded me THAT THERE WAS NO DESICCANT PACK IN THE BOX.(IF the box is supposed to come wrapped in plastic, mine was not.)There is also a pattern “set into/burned into” the LCD screen or cover. IT APPEARS TO HAVE NOTHING TO DO WITH THE LAYOUT OF THE DISPLAY/”SWITCHES” Almost as if something had gotten “TOO HOT” inside of it and “burned/impressed” that pattern on to the display screen? (I don’t know if I can get it to show in a picture). Did I get accidentally a bad return item? This unit is Heavier than my old thermostat, even before putting batteries in it.ALSO THEY “MADE A MISTAKE” ON THE DESIGN OF HOW IT ATTACHES TO THE MOUNTING PLATE.You screw the mounting plate into the wall. And then Firmly press the thermostat on to that.THE “PROBLEM” is that they put some fairly heavy duty “hooked clip on prongs” at all four corners.THEY DID NOT PUT some kind of press in thumb release for the unit.IT HAS TWO TABS to try and help separate it from the mounting plate. ”. 1 AT THE TOP AND 1 AT THE BOTTOM. They really do NOT extend above the top and the bottom of the thermostat.YOU HAVE TO REMOVE THE THERMOSTAT FROM THE WALL TO CHANGE THE BATTERIES.This is a problem with the 4 “Hard locking prongs”. You will have to try to hold one of the tabs with a screw driver or something with one had and then forcibly try to pull off the thermostat with the other hand.PICTURES SHOW with “arrows” where the 2 tabs on the mounting plate are that you have to hold to pry apart and the 4 “locking prongs.”. Picture with 2 arrows shows you the access (or lack of access) for the 2 tabs you have to hold down to separate and remove thermostat from the mounting plate when you need to change the batteries, or install. A picture also shows the "heavy rust" found in the packaging on the instruction manual staples.MY EXPERIENCE TELLS ME THAT THIS IS GOING TO END UP PULLING THE SCREWS OUT OF THE DRY WALL AT SOME POINT IN TIME WHEN DOING THIS. (And you are going to have to be careful to make sure the thermostat does not fly off the wall/out of your hands whenever remove it.)Where my thermostat goes the screws can only go into the ½” thick drywall, (Not into any wood.) and the depth for the screws that is available is Not much.(I know you can try using plastic expansion sleeves. {this will create bigger holes in the wall.} But there is not enough depth for them. It also probable does not matter anyway. Some time while trying to wrench the thermostat of to change batteries or for whatever reason… Will probably also rip them out. This will just leave even Bigger Holes to be patching.)THEY NEED TO REDESIGN THE MOUNT SO YOU DO NOT HAVE TO USE SO MUCH FORCE TO PRY IT OFF THE WALL. A PUSH TO RELEASE TAB WOULD BE MUCH BETTER. Even making it so it does not have to be pulled of the wall to change the batteries would also be helpful. With the Grunge on the screen and no film protection over the screen, the weird pattern “burned into the screen” The rust and lack of desiccant in the packaging, “poor design choice… All of the above…I Have come to the conclusion that I DO NOT NEED TO SPEND TIME INSTALLING A POSSIBLY DAMAGED/"short life" TROUBLESOME UNIT. I NEED TO RETURN THIS THERMOSTAT.So I had to hook the old one back up and get the place cooled back down to be able to sleep. If you have a sturdy place, with “wood” behind it that you can solidly screw this into with some “fairly sturdy, longish screws” and you don’t mind having to “forcibly pry it off the wall” to change batteries… and you can get one without and/or are not concerned with the other issues above... This does appear to be well built. Maybe it would be good for You?

Large LCD display, easy to install, easy to read and easy to use
This thermostat was super simple to install. It only needed two mounting screws. Wiring the leads was a cakewalk. Just simply follow the instructions regarding the color of each lead. One thing I really like about this thermostat is the large LCD display. It's very easy to read and easy to configure with the touch of your finger. We've had this thermostat now for about 3 weeks and the scheduling feature is really nice, allowing the thermostat to automatically change temperature when you wake up, when you leave the house, when you return, and when you go to bed.The current temperature in the home is displayed with a large easy to read number. The actual temperature that you're setting the thermostat to is displayed in the upper right corner with a smaller font, but still easy to read. The up and down arrows allow you to control the temperature. You can of course override the temperature at any time and even put it on permanent hold. If you simply override the temperature but do not put it on hold, it will revert back to the schedule on the next cycle, which is really a great feature because sometimes you just want to temporarily override the schedule with a different temperature but revert back to the schedule on the next cycle.I know a lot of people these days are going to the smart thermostats, but those are quite more expensive and this thermostat still looks good, has a scheduler, gets the job done and is much more affordable.
