Can't do better - Metal. Secure. Used at home on my tripod and on my motorbike attached to handlebars!
I was looking for a tripod attachment, as well as a reliable iPhone mount for my motorbike. I was not comfortable taking a chance on my motorbike with a plastic mount, and was on a search for a metal mount with a reliable grip on the phone. I almost didn't know this existed - I had to filter through a bunch of crappy ones, and stumbled upon this by chance! This is awesome. My wife and kids love taking pics/vids, and the tripod attachment fits like it should on my manfrotto tripod/ball head in my home studio, as well as on my JOBY Gorrilapod when on the move. It will fit most (almost all?) tripods/ball heads if they have the standard 1/4-20 screw mount. On my bike, I use a photography studio clamp w/stud on the center of my handle bars, and the RetiCAM fits perfectly onto that, like it would on a tripod - they have the same standard screw thread. It doesn't loosen at all with the vibration of the motorbike, either at idle, or at high RPMs. Even though it is not advertised as a bike mount (as it doesn't have the necessary hardware to clamp onto the bar (I use a Lumopro studio clamp w/stud), and it doesn't provide weather protection), I think it works exceptionally well as one. But you would have to mount it with a clamp with a screw attachment, as I have. I use it both - as a GPS etc, and to take vids of my rides. For standard use, I do not use the handgrip if all I want is to look at my phone (GPS etc.). If I want to take a vid of my ride, then I use the handgrip to give it some height, to peek over the bike instrument cluster and get a nice field of view. For size, I do have to use the XL conversion bars. I have a Speck case, which does add bulk to the iPhone 6S Plus, and without the XL attachment, it doesn't fit. I gently tighten it so it is firm, and not too much that it marks my iPhone case. So far, no markings, and the fit is very secure - likely a function of the rubbery feel of the speck case, and the RetiCAM friction layer not slipping against each other. I cannot make it slip out even if I try to pull it out - and this is without making it too tight, for fear of damaging the case/iphone. The fear of damaging the case is likely my own paranoia, I just feel a little uneasy tightening down on a expensive phone, but I doubt hand tightening would bend the aluminum and crack the screen, but there is no harm in being a bit cautious. I just hand tighten it till it feels firm, and not overly aggressively. So far, no dropped phone. The handgrip. I was surprised at the quality - it was also of metal construction and with a nice soft touch grip - excellent touch. I use it on my tripod, as it is easier to make adjustments on the tripod/ball head while looking through the phone, rather than having to hold the phone to make adjustments. This makes it much easier. If you hold the phone directly to make adjustments, you either have to hold it with your fingertips if you want to look through the screen, in which case, you can't make subtle, steady movements, or hold the phone with your whole hand to make more controlled movements, but then you can't see through the screen. It is also very useful for home videos etc, as you have are able to have a much steadier grip walking around and panning etc., than holding the phone directly. Using the hand grip would be very familiar to anyone who uses or have used a joystick style ball head on their tripods.Things I love:All metal.Very secure.Quick to use/remove the iPhone.Quick to attach/remove from tripod.Standard 1/4-20 screw attachment threads on both the clamp itself, and the hand grip for universal application. The handgrip - both on the tripod and handheld for home vids (and selfies I'm sure).Things I didn't:errr... can't think of many.Maybe... consider selling it with a handlebar attachment. I had a studio clamp handy, but not everyone has studio equipment laying around.... and if Amazon can make this easier to come across.Very highly recommended!

Very good, but wrist strap is dangerous
Once I figured out that I had to change the spacer rods to fit my phone, all went well. Very solid and useful. However, the chintzy wrist strap provided is dangerous for an expensive phone. The one I received did not look like the one in the listing photo. It was thinner, cheaper looking, and relied on a single piece of what appears to be thin fabric cord to hold the strap to the plastic 1/4" screw-in adapter. I would not trust it.I put in a metal D-ring 1/4" adapter and used a proper wrist strap that I had used on a DSLR. Now it feels solid and trustworthy.Good, solid piece of kit. Too bad they really skimped on the wrist strap that could turn your $1,000 phone into $50 as-is eBay listing.

Very well made!
The mount and grip are beautifully made; they ought to be at this price. The mount accommodates an iPhone 6s with a not-wafer-thin case on it well. I did not have to use the included extender bolt. The clamping is very secure; there is no chance that the phone could fall out of this mount, and that's what I want for an expensive phone. The grip is fine, the lanyard screws in tightly, all threads seem to be very well cut. The grip does have a rubber odor, as others have mentioned. I scrubbed it with full-strength dish soap and that got rid of almost all the smell. I imagine after it airs for a while the odor will vanish. The sales copy calls this gadget a "stabilizer," but don't confuse it with the many counterweighted balance systems available, it's just a really good handgrip mount.

A perfect accessory for any smartphone
The RetiCAM tripod mount with handgrip is a great value. It allows better snapshots and videos because you don’t have your hands on the device. The handgrip is solid and rugged. However, the rubberized coating makes it easy to hold even for long periods of time. It also doesn’t conduct heat like an all-metal handgrip. At the top of a bottom of the handgrip is a standard tripod mounting screw. You can attach the included smartphone mount or even a camera directly. On the bottom there is a standard tripod hole. You can mount the handgrip on a tripod or you can attach the enclosed hand strap. Having that versatility is a great plus. You could attach the hand strap to any camera or device with a tripod mount but I don’t think it will support the weight of anything very heavy. The simplicity of the handgrip shows how much thought went into the design. There are dozens of handgrips and selfie sticks but this ons built to last as well as built to be multipurpose. The RetiCAM smartphone mount is the top of its class. It is rugged as well with rubber inside so it won’t scratch the phone that it holds. The only problem that some users had with it is due to buying the wrong size. When buying the smartphone mount separately, It comes in both a regular size and an XL size. Some people have bought the wrong size but that won’t happen now. The mount they included has the XL conversion kit so it fits phones of all sizes, from normal-sized to phablets.. I use it on my small and chunky Nokia 808 but with the adapter it can fit the iPhone 6 plus or the Lumia 1520.I plan on giving this set to some friends and family because anyone with a smartphone of any size will be very glad to have this accessory

RetiCAM Phone Mount
I have used various mounts for the phone, but this is the most sturdy of them. The grip is good and the build quality is better that the other products I have used. When using this I am sure my iPhone wont fall out.The had grip is very useful especially when I take videos. On the whole I am happy with the product as it meets my needs.
