Great fan moves a lot of air
I bought this to replace what was actually a new fan a corsair fan no less but after personal testing I found at any given fan speed these move more air. They are not as quite once you start getting past 1200rpm but anything below and they seem fine. I just checked and mine goes upto 1650rpm. which while being noisy shifts a lot of air.Ok it doesn't look as nice as the one I replaced it with but look ok with a nice glow from my lights. The important bit is it out performs the one I replaced.I have a total of 7 120mm vipers and this one in my case and when they are just below a 1000rpm I can only just hear them. Unless I bench test and then it is kind of reasuring to know that yes they can be noisy at high rpm's. But to be honest so were the all the others I tried at high rpm's the difference is they push more air than the ones I replaced. It not that I wasted the other fans either I ended up moving them to another build where they don't need the air movement so much.

Great Fan, Plenty Of Airflow
I installed this onto my quiet gaming PC build, using rubber screws to absorb the vibrations and cut down the noise levels and was very happy with the result, my PC was close to silent and only had a noticeable "hummm" when I put all my fans to full speed.

I never knew such an awesome fan existed, and at this price!
I posted this as a reply to another comment, but I'm going to use it as a review also so people see it. I love these things beyond belief. All those Artic coolers I bought that are insanely noisy and overpriced compared to these gems.ORIGINAL REPLY:I'm sitting here in awe about how quiet these things are and how insanely cool my case has gotten since I replaced my Cool Masters with these (four hours ago). At least a 10 degree celsius drop. Even with overclocking and overvoltage, I CANNOT get my temps past 48! (AMD Phenom II X4 965, which was topping near 60)My front and side case mounts fitted these fine. My CPU is an after market Xigmatek which these fit PERFECTLY on. Admittingly, for the rear case, I mounted it externally, but does that matter? These fans are insane. While I typed this, my external HDD powered down due to lack of usage. Apart from my internal drive whirring, I wouldn't know the PC was on, and it's on the table beside my keyboard! (editing this, internal hard drive shut down, and I cannot hear anything apart from a leaky tap in the bathroom down the hall)I had no idea such fans existed, and if you have the room, buy one, buy ten actually, because the price of these things is going to sky rocket.

Good Fan But A Question Mark Over Its Purpose
This review assumes you're not bothered by the 'Viper Yellow' colour. I know some people hate it but if you're not worried about such aesthetic questions this is undoubtedly a good fan but with provisos.Check Akasa's own specs and you'll see that it is relatively quiet and moves considerably more air than any 120mm fan I've looked at.But they main question is what are you going to use it for? As a case fan it is perfectly good but if you have a case which only has 120mm mounts it still must have considerably more space than a 120mm fan to be able to fit this 140mm one. There are likely to be fan mount positions within any case designed for 120mm fans where it simply won't fit so you need to do precise measurements to ensure it will.As a replacement CPU cooler fan it has, on paper, a lot going for it as it should be quieter and possibly more effective than any fitted 120mm CPU cooler fan(s). But, again there are problems. Mounting systems for the CPU fan may not be able to accomodate it or compromise the airflow. Also, depending on the CPU cooler heat sink dimensions, this is going to add 1 - 2 cms to its height and reduce the clearance below, probably over the RAM slots, by a similar amount.Using a midi-tower case which, typically, allows for a maximum 160mm CPU cooler height it simply won't be possible to use the fan for this purpose with many CPU cooler designs.Another problem I've also come across is due to the fan mount being thinner than a conventional square mount fan. It is prone to flexing. Add to this the height difference between the rotating fan hub and the top of the mount is very small. If you're using this as an extractor fan then there's no problem but as an intake fan, where the hub is next to the case wall, the consequence of this is that it can actually foul the case if you tighten the mounts too much. Similarly when fitting filters if there is any curve or slack in the filter material or mount then that can do the same.Rubber mount grommets or anti-vibration mount washers will solve this problem by acting as spacers. There is also another fan filter issue to consider too depending on the case grill dimensions. What size filter do you fit? If you use a 140mm one between the case and the fan you'll have to put holes through the filter to mount it. If you use a 120mm filter then some of the air being drawn into or being pushed out of the fan will not be filtered. Using 120mm fan 'finger' guards also present another similar problem. In short: a good idea but despite its 120mm mounts this 140mm fan will still be unsuitable for some cases/positions due to its dimensions. In several ways it is actually compromised by its 120mm mount. If you have 140mm fan mounts then the standard Akasa 140mm Viper will almost certainly be a better choice.

AWESOME AIR MOVERS
It's a fan so its going to be a bit noisy, but if you need air flow, these things are awesome. Best fans you can get in my opinion.

Pretty much the best db per CFM/RPM there is.
Awesome fans. Quiet for their CFM.Don't pay attention to people saying the specs are exaggerated or they are noisy as this is not the case. However noise tolerance is a preference, I don't believe these are "loud".Most mother boards have fan control these days, so you can control speed therefore controlling noise.db per CFM/RPM, I have been unable to find a better fan, believe me, I have tried many.Buy these fans with confidence.I have a Corsair 750D fully kitted out with these and the 120mm Variant. If you like the colour scheme, you will love this fan.

Superior Airflow
OK ... I didn't buy this for a PC, but for a specialized piece of hardware. Having tried various other fans (which did OK), I wanted to reduce my chip temps by 10-15%.Bought two of these, reversed the second one ... so airflow was pulled through the system. i.e. Fan 1 sucked air in, and fan 2 pushed it out. One at each end of the rig.WOW! A massive airflow was created and temps dropped as I had hoped for.So ... if you have the space for a 14cm fan on a 12cm fitting - go for it, highly recommended.

High volume air flow
So powerful, I have dust accumulating on the exterior of my PC case. High volume and static pressure. Ideal the water cooling applications. Also quiet in operation.
