This book is indeed packed with a lot of sight word activities that are just short enough to keep from boring a child.

By Scholastic The Jumbo Book of Sight Word Practice Pages. Includes the first 200 Dolch Words. It leaves off the last 20 of the Dolch 220 list. The pages are black and white. Wish it was colorful, but if you are buying to make lots of copies for classroom use or multiple children, it would be good for that. Double-sided. Each word is on the front and back of a page. Each page has to be carefully pulled out of book, because the pages are not perforated. 8 ‘activities’ for each word including tracing the word. The order in the book is not alphabetical, it is ordered by pre-primer, primer, first grade, second grade, and third grade (although the last 20 words on the third grade list are the ones missing from this book). There is no answer key. Included is an assessment Chart broken down into lists of 20 words per chart. There are also Word cards (flash cards) although the size of the cards would be rather small if used. This book can be a good intro and practice but would have to be supplemented in other ways. It would take a child a long time to get through this book. It is 432 pages long. I am glad I bought this book as a supplement to the other manipulatives we do with sight words. Wish I would have bought when my child was first starting to learn but he already knows around 100 of the words in this book. June 26, 2015.

This book covers each sight word, one at a time, one page each, front and back. I think that is better than books that try to cover 3 to 5 at a time. On the other hand there are no review pages. There is a nice variety of activities, not just writing the word over and over again. The book has no color, but has good illustrations. I like that the words are listed by grade level and in order of frequency used.

The 4, 5 and 6 year olds I am teaching love working on this book.

This workbook is excellent!! My 6 year old son learned 30 sight words in about 8 weeks, primarily because of this workbook. There are 2 pages for each sight word and the activities vary, so it is never boring like some other workbooks. My son especially loves the puzzle pieces and the connect the dots. Fantastic workbook!!

My daughter is really excited about using this book to improve on her sight word studying. These are Dolch sight words and all of the pages vary in activities to keep it from being boring. She likes that it is fun and feels more like a coloring book than a homework assignment. So far so good.

It’s a great work book for kindergarteners. Lot of fun, practice for starters which will quickly master their sight words n boost their confidence.

Love it enhances student sight word building

Great resource for the pre primer and grades 1-2 classroom. Worth every cent!
